Honesty first here people, I am not in China right now. I am sitting on my parent's couch in Delhi. I figured I should start this blog before I actually leave the country in 6 hours. I'm on top of my game, I know. So anyways, if you are unaware of my reasons for traveling to China I will briefly explain. Basically, UC has partnered with Chongqing University (in Chongqing, China) to extend the amazing courses and co-op opportunities that the College of Engineering offers to another university. Co-op is a huge benefit and since the concept of Cooperative Education began at UC, what better school to pair with to kick off a whole new co-op program?! So while I'm in Chongqing, I'll be assisting the first year students in learning the same material that I learned as a first year as well as teaching them what it's like to live in America and the Cincinnati area. So I get to stand in front of a room full of 30 Chinese students every day and attempt to teach them something that will help them in their futures. Maybe they'll think I'm qualified and a great teacher, but most likely they'll think I'm just some freakishly tall girl with strange hair. We'll see. Luckily they all speak some degree of English. Some very well and others....not so much. They'll come to the University of Cincinnati as fifth year to take classes but they will be co-oping in China before then. It's an amazing opportunity and as a proud Bearcat, I couldn't be more excited to show these students what it's like to attend such a phenomenal school.
This is what the city of Chongqing looks like. It's a cool port city with a unique, terrifying, and distinct line between the 2 adjoining rivers that surround it. Looks like I won't be eating any food that comes from that beautiful body of water. Actually, I definitely will. I'll keep you updated on how my stomach handles it.
This whole blog thing will get a whole lot cooler once I'm not still on the Westside of Cincinnati. I hope so at least.
