We slept in the freezing apartment for a couple of hours but then woke up and went into town with Dr. Walker, his wife Carol, Dr. Cheng, and Shirley (Dr. Walker and Cheng are the professors that we will be assisting while we’re here). We were meeting one of the Deans from CQU, Dean Chen. He wanted to buy us lunch because he wanted to welcome us to the university. Now check out this lunch, the food just kept coming. I took this picture AFTER 9 of us had finished eating. Granted, the food was strange and I never knew exactly what I was eating but it was impressive. The drinks we were given were hot water and warm corn milk. So weird. I tried the corn milk even though it looked super scary and it wasn’t even that bad. There was only one time that I ate something and I immediately thought I was going to throw up. I’m pretty sure it was some type of dish with lotus root. NASTY. A lot of the food had its head on it still. Like we had whole fish, whole duck (okay it probably wasn’t duck but it was some kind of small bird and its head was still attached), and a lot of weird whole shrimp. I avoided that stuff but the vegetables and rice were amazing. I didn’t even want to see the bill for all of it.
But then while we were waiting for Dr. Walker and Carol outside of China Mobile there was this little girl that literally pooped on the sidewalk, so that was funny. Disturbing, but funny. It was weird because her mom totally made her do it. Oh, China. And yes, yes I did take a picture of them.
Peace.
